Introduction –

The Crusades of the medieval times have rather proved to be a contentious subject matter, especially given its association to religious fanaticism. But beneath this veneer of political analogy (that tends to be exaggerated), we must understand that Crusades, while embodying a clash of cultures, also resulted in various spheres of cultural synthesis – via trade networks, adoption of habits and dresses, and even architecture. So without further ado, let us tread the path of objective history and present to you – the origins, political scope, and the military nature of the Crusades, from circa late 11th century AD to late 13th century AD.

Δεν είναι λίγοι αυτοί που επισκέπτονται την περιοχή αρχικά γιατί έχουν ακούσει να γίνεται λόγος για αυτόν τον μύθο από πέτρα.

Βρίσκεται ακριβώς απέναντι από τον αρχαιολογικό χώρο της Μαντινείας (περίπου 12χλμ. από την Τρίπολη) και συνομιλεί μαζί του. Πρόκειται για εκλεκτικιστικό αρχιτεκτόνημα. Συνδυάζει αρχαιότροπους ρυθμούς με βυζαντινών επιρροών στοιχεία.

Επιδιώκει να αποτελέσει μια γέφυρα των πολιτισμών. Κατ’ αρχάς η αφιέρωσή του στην Αγία Φωτεινή απηχεί τη σχέση της Αρκαδίας με το φως. Είναι γνωστό πως Λύκαιο όρος σημαίνει φωτεινό, το ίδιο σημαίνει και το όνομα Λυκάων, που είναι οικιστής της Αρκαδίας.
Η αγιογράφηση του ναού συνέχεται από το ίδιο πνεύμα συγκρητισμού. Τα αγιογραφούμενα πρόσωπα αποδίδονται ως να πρόκειται για αρχαίους Έλληνες φιλοσόφους. Υπάρχουν επίσης κάποιες πολιτιστικές αναφορές στα ιερά της Ίσιδος, που αφθονούσαν στην Αρκαδία.

Ο ναός εγκαινιάστηκε το 1972 και αποτελεί ήδη κομμάτι του αρκαδικού μύθου. Το συνολικό αποτέλεσμα αισθητικά έχει μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον και ακόμα μεγαλύτερο οι πνευματικές προεκτάσεις του εγχειρήματος. Στον περιβάλλοντα χώρο υπάρχει ηρώο για να τιμηθούν οι πεσόντες στους πολέμους το οποίο διέπεται από την ίδια λογική με το ναό.

Far-right leaders across the globe are responding to the historic coronavirus pandemic with an alarming mix of lies, incompetence, racism and corruption.

Among them is U.S. President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly sought to downplay the severity of the virus, and to obscure all the ways his administration has fumbled the federal government’s response.

Ruth Ben-Ghiat is a history professor at New York University who is a world-renowned expert on fascism and propaganda. She talked to HuffPost Wednesday about the grave dangers of having an authoritarian leader like Trump in charge of America’s effort to beat back the pandemic.

Not only will the president continue to put so many lives at risk, she argued, but he will seek to exploit the crisis to gain more power.
