Spartans were forced by law to take 3 baths every day with cold water. One before they start the day, one after the completion of the training and another before the common dinner.
Atheneans were provided with public baths at the gymnasiums where they spent their day. Those public baths after 450 BC could provide hot water also. But until then they were providing only cold water.
Of course Spartans and Atheneans after finishing exercises and before they entered the baths were supposed to clean the dirt=olive oil + sweat + sand from their bodies using a curved instrument named ΣΤΛΕΓΓΙΣ=Stleggis.
